How to Clear Cache on Chrome: Browser, Android, iOS & Single Sites

If you’re looking to clear or delete cache on Chrome, whether that be on your Windows or Mac laptop, your Android or iPhone mobile, or iPad, we got you covered.

Just follow the steps we’ve outlined here for the device or browser you’re looking to clear.

Take note that you also have the option of just clearing the cache for a particular site.

You can also choose to only clear cache for a certain timeframe like the last hour up until “All time”. This means that you will clear any cache stored in Chrome that you have.

Clear Cache on Chrome – Windows & Mac

To clear Chrome cache on your Windows or Mac laptop, you have two options. One is using the Chrome Setting, the other by going through the Address Bar directly.

They both do the same thing.

Using Chrome Settings

  1. Open Chrome: Launch Google Chrome on your computer.
  2. Access Settings:
    • Click on the three vertical dots in the upper-right corner of the browser window to open the menu.
    • Select “Settings.”
  3. Privacy and Security:
    • In the left sidebar, click on “Privacy and security.”
  4. Clear Browsing Data:
    • Click on “Clear browsing data.”
  5. Select Time Range:
    • In the pop-up window, choose the time range for which you want to clear cache. To delete all cache, select “All time.”
  6. Select Data to Clear:
    • Check the box next to “Cached images and files.” You can also select other types of data you want to clear, such as browsing history or cookies.
  7. Clear Data:
    • Click on the “Clear data” button.

Using the Address Bar

  1. Open Chrome: Launch Google Chrome on your computer.
  2. Access Clear Browsing Data Directly:
    • Type chrome://settings/clearBrowserData in the address bar and press Enter.
  3. Follow Steps 5-7 from Above:
    • Select the time range and the types of data you want to clear, then click “Clear data.”

Deleting Cache on Chrome for One Site

If you don’t want to clear all your Chrome cache, you can also go through Chrome’s developer tool and delete specific cache only. This is how you do it.

Using Chrome’s Developer Tools (for Specific Cache)

  1. Open Chrome: Launch Google Chrome on your computer.
  2. Open Developer Tools:
    • Right-click on the page and select “Inspect” or press Ctrl+Shift+I (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Option+I (Mac).
  3. Navigate to the Application Tab:
    • In the Developer Tools pane, click on the “Application” tab.
  4. Clear Cache:
    • In the left sidebar, expand the “Cache” section under the “Storage” category.
    • Select the site whose cache you want to clear.
    • Right-click on the cache list and select “Clear.”

Clear & Delete Chrome Cache on Android Phone

To clear cache in Google Chrome on an Android device, follow these steps:

  1. Open Chrome:
    • Launch the Google Chrome app on your Android device.
  2. Access Settings:
    • Tap on the three vertical dots in the upper-right corner of the browser window to open the menu.
    • Select “Settings.”
  3. Privacy and Security:
    • Scroll down and tap on “Privacy and security.”

Clear & Delete Chrome Cache on iPhone / iPads (iOS)

To clear cache in Google Chrome on an iPhone and iPads, follow these steps:
