How to Delete Watched Videos on Facebook & Maintain Your Privacy for 2025

Has this ever happened to you? You’re scrolling through reels, enjoying yourself, for an acceptable amount of time (no judgment here!), and stumble upon a hilarious meme. But before you can save or share it, you accidentally hit the back button, and *poof* it’s gone.

This has happened to me more times than I’d like to admit. Platforms like YouTube make finding the watch history very easy. But Facebook is not primarily a video platform. So this feature was not available for some time. And wven now, it’s a bit hard to locate. That’s why we’ve put together this article to help you find and manage your watch history. Also discuss a few reasons why you may want to get rid of it.

Can I see my reel and video history on Facebook?

Yes, you can see a list of all the videos and reels you have watched in your Facebook activity log. Here’s how you do it:

On Desktop:

  1. If you’re not already logged in, go to the Facebook login page and sign in with your username, email address, or phone number and password.
  2. Once logged in, you should find yourself on your Facebook feed; now you have to go to your profile or timeline.
  3. Click on your profile picture in the top right corner of your screen, and then click on your name. Alternatively, you can click on your name at the top of the left-side menu.
  4. We need to locate the Activity log in your profile. It can be found in the three-dot drop-down menu on the right side, below the edit profile button.
  5. There, you should find an option for videos you’ve watched.
  6. Once you enter the page, you should see a list of all the videos you have watched grouped by dates with time stamps.
  7. To watch any of the videos or reels, simply click on them, and it should start playing.

On Android:

  1. Make sure you have the latest version of the Facebook app installed on your device from the Google Play Store.
  2. Open the app and sign in with your username, email address, or phone number and password if not already logged in.
  3. Tap on your profile picture with the three lines (hamburger menu) in the top-right corner of the screen.

  8. Scroll through the menu until you find Videos Watched and tap on it.

Please keep in mind that, unlike the desktop version, the mobile app does not display timestamps for each video.

Why should you delete your Facebook video and reel watch history?

The watch history is undoubtedly useful for users. However, beyond its usefulness, it also serves other purposes that are not in favour of your privacy. Here are a few reasons why we think you should clear your entire watch history every once in a while.

  • Because, it can be used to track you. It’s no surprise that Facebook is going to use your data on Facebook to track you. A long watch history will help Facebook show you personalized content. If you don’t want that, you should delete it.
  • To reset the algorithm. The reels you get are usually based on your watch history, as Facebook learns from your watch habit to better serve you. However, sometimes Facebook can get it wrong as you don’t always get to choose which reels you watch. So you can just clear your watch history to start fresh.
  • To avoid others from finding out about your watch history. You should always make sure no one else has access to your Facebook and log out from devices after use. But in case someone else gets access to your Facebook, you don’t want them to see your embarrassing watch history, do you?
  • To declutter your account. If you’re like me and you don’t like being logged for everything you do, you may also want to clear your Facebook watch history and maybe take a look at the other sections of the activity log.

Wrapping Up

Your Facebook watch history holds a lot more information about your habits than you may realise. And the fact that Facebook hides it behind so many pages makes it a bit of a red flag. But thankfully, the feature is still there. You can use it if you need and delete it if you don’t want it. The process is somewhat similar on all devices, including web browsers on desktop, Android and iOS. And now that you know how to access, manage, and delete your watch history, you can enjoy Facebook reels with more confidence and peace of mind.
