You share pictures, videos, or even text with your friends and followers, and it disappears after 24 hours. Moreover, you can see exactly who saw your story.
Now, there are many reasons why you may want to delete your story before the 24-hour mark. You may have posted something mistakenly, or you’ve realised that your story can be viewed by people you don’t want or for a hundred more reasons. How to Delete Your Story on Facebook?
If you delete your story before the 24-hour time frame, you will not be able to get it back. You can delete your story on both desktop and mobile platforms. Here’s how you do it:
On Desktop:
- Open your web browser, go to the Facebook login page, and sign in to your account.
- You should be able to access your story right from the top of your your News Feed.
- However, if you don’t find it there for some reason, go to your profile or timeline.
- On the top right corner, click on your profile picture and then click on your name.
- If you have a story live, you will see a ring around your profile picture on your timeline. Click on it, and then select View Story.
- In your Stories, locate the specific story you wish to remove.Â
- Click on the three dots in the top-right corner of the content, select Delete Story, and confirm when prompted.
On Android and iOS:
- Make sure you have the latest version of the app installed on your phone
- Launch the app on your device and make sure that you’re logged in.
- At the top of your News Feed, tap on Your Story.
- If you cannot see your story on the feed, locate the three-lines (hamburger) menu on the top or bottom right of your phone and click on your name.
- Once you have your timeline, you should see a blue ring around your profile picture. That means you have an active story. Click on your profile picture and tap view story.
- Find the photo or video you want to delete. Tap the three dots in the upper-right corner, choose Delete Story, and confirm the deletion.
How to Archive Your Story on Facebook?
If you don’t want to get rid of your stories completely, you may want to archive them. Moreover, while your stories disappear after 24 hours, if you have the stories archive turned on, you can access them and see the interactions after they’ve expired.
On Desktop:
- Visit Facebook and sign in.
- Click on your profile picture on the top right and then click on the name to access your profile.
- Click on the three-dots below your cover photo and edit profile button, and select Activity Log.
- On the Activity Log page, from the left-side, click on Archive, and select Story archive from the drop-down.
- On the top right of the Story Archive page, click on the Settings button.
- Next to Save to Archive, click on Turn on Story Archive.Â
On Android and iOS:
- First, make sure that you have the latest version of the Facebook app.Â
- Open the app and log in.
- Tap the profile picture with the three lines (hamburger menu) in the top-right corner.Â
- Then, tap on your name at the top of the menu to access your profile.
- Tap the three dots next to the Edit Profile button on your profile page.
- Tap on Archive and then Story Archive.
- Next to Your story archive on top, there’s a gear icon. Tap on that.
- Enable Save to Archive.
How to Mute Someone’s Stories on Facebook
On Desktop:
- Log In to Facebook using your web browser
- At the top of your News Feed, find the Story from the person you wish to mute.
- Or go to that person’s timeline and click on their profile picture to view story.Â
- Hover over the Story, click the three dots, and select Mute [Person’s Name].
On Android and iOS:
- Update your Facebook app to the latest version and login
- At the top of your News Feed, locate the Story you want to mute.
Press and hold the Story, then tap Mute [Person’s Name] - Or, go to that specific person’s profile and open their story.
- Click on the three dots on the top right and tap Mute [Person’s Name]
How to Hide Your Facebook Story from Specific People
On Desktop:
- Open your browser and log in to Facebook
- Click on Create Story, then select the gear icon next to Your story.
- Modify Privacy Settings: Choose hide story from and add the names of people you want to exclude from viewing your Story.
On Android and iOS:
- Open the Facebook app
- Tap on Create Story.
- Tap on the gear icon on the top right to access Story privacy.
- In who can see your story?, choose hide story from and select the people you want to exclude.
How to Share Your Facebook Story with Specific People
On Desktop:
- Log in to your Facebook account through your browser of choice.
- Click on Create Story, and then use the gear icon next to Your story to access the privacy settings.
- In the privacy settings, choose Custom and select the people you want to share your story with.
On Android and iOS:
- Open the Facebook app on your phone.
- Tap on create story from your news feed.
- Then tap on the gear icon on the top right to enter story privacy page.
- In the to adjust the privacy, in the who can see your story page, choose custom and select the people you want to include.Â
